Traditional Maypole in St Christopher's Place

The London Paper (online). 30 April 2007

"Meanwhile, any ladies who feel left out might like to try a stint round a maypole, laid on by record breaker (longest maypole dance) Donna Maria, England’s officially appointed maypole consultant, who’s set up more than 500 across the country over the last 25 years.

She and her troop will perform at Morden Hall Park’s Country Affair in Morden on Saturday. Then she’ll install her own 3.5-metre high pole in St Christopher’s Place, off Oxford Street, on 12 May for ten-minute performances at 1, 2 and 3pm; and in Leicester Square on 9 June. Spectators, like the Lord Mayor of Westminster, are welcome to join in after the official performances: Donna Maria can fit in 150 people around the pole."
