Commemorating 80 Years Since VE Day

As the 80th Anniversary of VE Day approaches, St Christopher’s Place is taking the opportunity to reflect not only on the past, but also to the enduring values that continue to define the West End community today: unity, resilience, and remembrance.

To mark this significant milestone, a poppy installation will adorn the estate - each bloom a powerful symbol of sacrifice, peace, and honour. This tribute invites both locals and visitors to pause and reflect, acknowledging the courage of those who came before and the strength of the nation that carried them through.

Located just off James Street, the installation offers a poignant reminder that freedom is never free. Together, they form a shared space of remembrance - one that celebrates the spirit of community, connection, and compassion.

Stand among the poppies, not only in tribute of the past, but in recognition of the unity that continues to bring people together today. And while you’re there, don’t forget to capture the moment, share it on social media and you’re welcome to tag St Christopher’s Place.
